MPEI took part in the contest of school teams of the East Kazakhstan region in the field of energy25.04.2022
April 21, 2022 on the platform of D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan technical university (EKTU)
an international online hackathon of the contest of school teams in the East
Kazakhstan region took place to create an idea on a topic related to energy
"Tasks from the life of power engineers".
MPEI acted as a partner at the event along
with the Maritime State University (Vladivostok) and industrial partners of the
contest - NPP Ust-Kamenogorskaya CHP and Shulbinskaya
HPP. The jury included a teacher
from MPEI, who offered the young participants of the hackathon to find a
solution to the task. To complete the task, school teams showed their
competence in physics, mathematics and informatics. The main criteria for
evaluating the results of the teams' work were creativity and quality.
Vanin A.S., candidate of Technical Sciences,
Associate Professor of the Department of Electric Power Systems MPEI gave a brief
guest lecture on the reliability of power supply on the topic of the
assignment, the case of which is related to network reliability indicators,
data analysis, forecasting of electric grid company reliability indicators.
At the end of the event, the winners were
awarded prizes. Participants of all teams and teachers of schools representing
the teams were awarded certificates.
Saule Rakhmetullina, Vice-Rector for
Development Strategy of EKTU, said that such sectoral contests for
schoolchildren are a great opportunity to feel and determine their future on
their own. Andrey Bobylo, Advisor to the Rector for International Relations of
the Maritime State University noted the relevance of energy topics and the
opportunity at such contests to show the future generation the ability to think
outside the box and creatively present engineering solutions. Zulfiya
Boranbayeva, Head of HR and Administrative Department, NPP Ust-Kamenogorskaya CHP
expressed the great interest of industrial partners and support in the training
of engineers, power engineers at all stages of education from school to college
and university, and also noted the high importance of interest in the power
engineering profession and the willingness to support and develop it in further
cooperation.

of the leading technical universities in Kazakhstan, which trains specialists
for metallurgy, mechanical engineering, energy, architecture and construction,
transport, information systems, as well as professional economists.
