MPEI at 75th anniversary celebration of Myanmar's independence14.03.2023
14 March, 2023, MPEI delegation took part in the
celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the independence of Myanmar.
On behalf of MPEI, Sergey Shirinskii, Head of
International Administration, Alexander Ivannikov, associate professor of the
Department of Theoretical Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Irina
Sazonova, the leading specialist of the Directorate on International Relations
participated in the event.
His Excellency
U Lwin Oo, the current Ambassador of the Republic to the Russian Federation,
made a welcoming speech, noting the long-standing traditionally friendly
relations with Russia and the multifaceted cooperation between the two
countries in various fields, including the energy sector.
Further on the program, students from Myanmar studying
in Russia and representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of
Myanmar introduced to the guests the traditions and culture of their country.
Applause was greeted with a speech by Mye Min Tant, a postgraduate student from
MPEI, Myanmar.
Perfomance of Mie Min Tant, doctoral student of the
Department of Electrotechnical Complexes of Autonomous Objects and Electric
Transport of MPEI was welcomed with warm applauses.
Burma's independence from Great Britain was proclaimed
on January 4, 1948. In 1989 the government of the country changed the official
name of the country from Burma to Myanmar.
