The Department was founded in 1958

Summary

The Department of Computing Technologies (CT) educates Bachelors and Masters in "Computer Science and Engineering" educational program. The corresponding training profiles are "Computer Aided Design Systems" and "Information and Computing Technologies".

"Computer Aided Design Systems" profile includes sections on software systems development, database design, mathematical methods, software and hardware methods for industrial facilities design automation.

"Information and Computing Technologies" profile offers study of scientific methods and algorithms aimed to solve actual problems in various industries, including high-performance computing systems; other topics include mathematical, technical and linguistic software in computer aided design and life cycle management for industrial products, internet of things and cyberphysical systems.

Research areas

  • Distributed Computing
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Intellectual Systems

Fundamental education of CT department graduates is ensured by its experienced teaching staff as well as by established scientific schools . The latter were created by prominent world-known scientists, in particular academicians S.A. Lebedev, V.A. Melnikov, V.S. Burtsev. Modern disciplines of the students training are based on rich traditions of those schools.

Features

CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM technologies computerize processes of complex products design, production preparation and organization, and allow to conduct the products’ operational properties study without need of physical prototypes. These systems permit to carry out engineering analysis based only on a Full Digital Product Description and to manage the product lifecycle with help of ultra-modern software and hardware systems (PLM – product lifecycle management).

CAD systems are the most important part in PLM and one of the most comprehensive and knowledge-intensive profiles in the educational standards of computer science, as well as information and communication technologies. CAD systems automate many engineering tasks in the intellectual sphere of human activity. High knowledge intensity of CAD systems indicates extreme importance of problems and tasks of this field . Fundamental theoretical knowledge, mastering of modern information technologies and systemic way of thinking, those qualities provided during the education to our graduates facilitate their adaptation for the requirements of the modern labor market and industry.

Our graduates are protected from unemployment by the growing demand for specialists in computer science, information and communication technologies. CAD/CAM/PLM technologies are introduced everywhere, as well as advanced techniques for managing large industrial projects in accordance with the Industry 4.0 concept at the most advanced enterprises in Russian industry.

Unique equipment

Base general-professional subjects in the field of computer circuitry are studied in a modern "Functional units and Processors" laboratory equipped with the necessary multimedia stands and devices:
