The Centre was founded in 1997.

Main activities of the Centre

  • R&D, scientific and technical services on ecology of power engineering and coal ash handling based on the best available technologies, as well as on other issues of production, transport and distribution of thermal and electric energy.
  • The provision of paid educational services under the programs of additional professional education (advanced training and professional retraining) of employees from energy enterprises and energy companies of the fuel and energy complex, housing and domestic services and other sectors of the economy, as well as of individuals with higher or secondary vocational education.

Founder of the Centre - Viacheslav Putilov, academician of Academy of Industrial Ecology, Laureate of the Polish coal ash Award "Phoenix 2009", a member of the coordination Council of the World-wide coal combustion products network.

Viacheslav Putilov together with a group of MPEI teachers got IV National ecological prize for 2007 in the nomination "Education for Sustainable Development" for development and implementation in the Moscow Power Engineering Institute for the first time in domestic practice of a permanent complex system of experts' training in the field of ecology in power engineering for high schools and postgraduate vocational education system. The prize is established by the State Duma of Russia and Foundation of V.I. Vernadsky.

Since 2018, Ph.D., associate professor Irina Putilova has been heading the Centre. She is the Russian representative in the World wide Coal Combustion Products Network, a member of the European Coal Combustion Products Association (ECOBA), a member of the Editorial board of the US journal "Coal Combustion and Gasification Products".
