The list of disciplines taught at the Department of Nuclear Power Plants is addressed to training specialists who have knowledge of all the basic technologies of nuclear power plants. The department of NPPs made a significant contribution in training the personnel for the nuclear industry.
The department’s activities have ensured the knowledge continuity, by improving the training quality and working out the flaws of personnel. And for that, the department received the support of leading experts in the nuclear industry, and contributed to the inclusion of the National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" in the Association of "Consortium of Supporting Universities of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom".
In recent years, experimental and theoretical work has been carried out at the department of NPPs under contracts with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and other organizations of the Russian nuclear industry, such as the State Corporation Rosatom, Design branch of Rosenergoatom, Smolensk NPP, Nuclear Safety Institute of The Russian Academy of Sciences.
Scientific work of students, carried out under the guidance of the department supervisors, is annually submitted to student’s scientific competitions and their authors become the laureates. A number of student research supervisors have been awarded the Rosenergoatom prizes for their success in training personnel. Students and Ph.D. students of the department annually take part in the International Scientific and Technical Conference of undergraduate and postgraduate students "Radioelectronics, Electrical Engineering and Energy", the Kurchatov Youth Scientific School and many other Russian and international scientific conferences. Lecturers of the department collaborate with leading foreign scientific and educational centers for the training of specialists in the field of nuclear energy such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), the University of Pisa (Italy).
