MPEI develops a strategy for effective development of MPEI branch in Tashkent

On May 2-3, 2024, Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, and Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations, paid a working visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan Republic.

A discussion on opening a branch of MPEI in Tashkent was held at the MPEI branch campus under construction. On the Russian side, representatives of the Presidential Administration of Russia headed by Igor Maslov took part in the discussion, as well as Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector. On the Uzbek side, there were Deputy Ministers of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan: Otabek Makhamov, Sarvarhon Buzrukhonov, Shohrough Daliev, Deputy Minister of Energy Azizkhuja Kobilov and Executive Director of MPEI branch in Tashkent Hojakbar Daliev.

During the discussion, the parties agreed to coordinate and sign the roadmap for opening MPEI branch in Tashkent as soon as possible.06-05-7.jpg

The guests planted tree saplings on the branch territory as part of the nationwide project “Yashil Makon” and contributed to the greening of the environment.06-05-8.jpg

On May 3, there was a meeting held with Sadritdin Turabdjanov, Rector of Tashkent State Technical University, Academician of the Academy of Sciences, Honorary Professor of MPEI, and Kahraman Allaev, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, MPEI alumnus.

On October 19, 2018, during the visit of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, to Uzbekistan, there was a decision made to establish MPEI branch in Tashkent. That very day, a tripartite agreement was signed between MPEI, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Uzbekenergo JSC on preparation for the establishment of MPEI branch in Tashkent.

At the moment, the construction of the branch campus is being finalized in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The campus territory will be equipped with modern classrooms and laboratory equipment to train highly qualified engineering personnel for the power engineering sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
