MPEI delegation visits WUST11.10.2021From 30 September to 10 October 2021 MPEI officials Sergey Vishnyakov, Head of IITCS, and Irina Kulik, coordinator of international academic programs, paid a visit to the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland. Cooperation between MPEI and WUST started in 1993 and now includes joint educational programs, R&D, academic and cultural exchanges. Since 2016 it has been developing intensely due to the launch of the Academic mobility programs for students and teachers: Erasmus+ and the Double-degree education. In September 2021, 14 young students of MPEI engineering faculties had successfully completed the 3E+ Summer school that was organized at WUST in-person. The program of the visit was tense and included official events and personal meetings with the senior administration of WUST and representatives of the faculties. The solemn ceremony of inauguration that was timed to the start of the academic year 2021/2022 had been carried out in-person for the first time since the pandemic emerged.With the Rector of the Wroclaw University and Technology Professor Arkadiusz Wojc.Participation in the opening ceremony of the new academic year and awarding of the outstanding students and staff at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Waldemar Rebizant, Dean of the faculty.During the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to the graduates of the MPEI-WUST 2021 Double Degree program: Erdem Dogdanov, Jamila Orudzheva, Philip Naraev. Representatives of MPEI greeted and thanked the colleagues for fruitful cooperation, congratulated the graduates on receiving diplomas and expressed their hope for the further successful partnership. Sergey Vishnyakov and Irina Kulik met the representatives of the top management of WUST: Professor Arkadiusz Wojs, Rector of WUST; Professor Tadeusz Więckowski - an outstanding Polish scientist who was acting as the rector of WUST in 2008-2016 and is now an honorary doctor of MPEI; Dariusz Lydzba, Vice-Rector for Development of Cooperation of WUST; professor Agnieszka Bienkowska, WUST Vice-Rector for Studies and Anna Maria Rogalska, Head of theWUST Office of International Relations. Several faculties delegated their deans and representatives to the meetings: Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Faculty of Electronics, Photonics, and Microsystem Faculty of Pure and Applied Mathematics Faculty of Electrical Engineering Visit to the Supercomputer Center Prospects for expanding cooperation within the framework of academic mobility programs for students and teachers, initiation of joint research projects and events were discussed. A list of mutual interests was identified individually with each faculty, a plan was concluded and a roadmap for the development of cooperation was worked out. Those meetings were key for the discussion of the cooperation in the framework of academic mobility programs for students and teachers, as well as the initiatives of joint scientific programs and events. The list of the mutual interests was worked up, the plan and the roadmap for collaboration development had been devised.The renewed project of the Memorandum for realization of the MPEI-WUST Double-Degree program was set up as well, enhancing the number of WUST member faculties from 2 to 5. Summing up the results, it is worth mentioning that the visit to Poland was consistent and fruitful and the preconditions for an efficient extension of the MPEI-WUST partnership has been created.
