Embassy of Cuba visits MPEI

May 25, 2023, Gustavo Jose Cobreiro Suarez, Advisor for Education and Science of the Embassy of Cuba in the Russian Federation, visited MPEI once again. The guest was welcomed by Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations and Anastasia Mashkova, Director on Integration Policy Development.

The main purpose of the visit, as usual, was an open dialogue with a group of executives of power companies in the Republic of Cuba, members of the United Electricity Union "Unión Electrica" (UNE) who arrived in Russia in May 2023 to undergo professional training at the leading departments of the Electric Power Systems, Thermal Power Plants and Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources.

During the meeting, the Advisor discussed with the trainees the actuality of interaction between Cuba and Russia in the energy field and obtaining Russian industry education. The trainees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to expand their knowledge through the wealthy energy experience of MPEI experts and emphasized their interest in developing professional integration between the states.

“Traditional meetings with representatives of the Embassy of Cuba promote scientific and cultural exchange between Russia and Cuba and help expand knowledge and experience in the energy field which strengthen the energy industry in both countries. We look forward to continuing to work with the heads of Cuban energy companies so that our university will continue to attract talented and ambitious students and professionals not only from Latin America, but also from other countries”, - Anastasia Mshkova said.

At present within the educational cooperation between MPEI and the Cuban Energy Union 30 leading specialists and managers of the energy industry of the Republic of Cuba study at MPEI under the programs of master's degree, postgraduate and additional professional education in the field of electricity and thermal energy, energy engineering, computer science and renewable energy sources.
