MPEI Cooperation with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland began in the 1960s.
In the 60's and 70's many of MPEI's employees had internships in Great
Britain.
One of MPEI's long-standing partners is the University of Glyndŵr with
whom MPEI successfully cooperated in the MPEI-Glyndŵr double degree program,
English summer school and courses on writing in English for MPEI graduate
students and teachers.
In 2015, the joint international educational project FSAMP (Erasmus+) on
the key area "KA2 -
Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices. Capacity building for
higher education" with Kingston University was implemented. During the
period of this project 21 people – MPEI students and lecturers took part in it.
FSAMP project is a project "Flight
Safety and Airworthiness - Master's program" implemented as part of a
consortium of 9 partner universities from the following countries: Great
Britain, Italy, Spain, Russia, Uzbekistan.
MPEI personnel
actively participated in international conferences held in Great Britain.
The
list of MPEI honorary doctors includes two representatives from Great Britain: Dudley Brian Spalding (managing director of CHAM Ltd)
and Rodney John Allam (The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a winner of the award
"Global Energy").
Valentin Andreevich Venikov - Honored Worker of
Science and Technology of the RSFSR, laureate of the Lenin and State Prizes,
Yablochkov Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Doctor of Technical
Sciences, Professor at Moscow Power Engineering Institute for 20 years was Vice
President of the USSR – Great Britain Society.
MPEI
students actively participated in international academic mobility programs.
Under the program "Global Education" one MPEI
student has taken a Master's Degree.
MPEI is a participant of ADEPT
(International Academic Forum for the Development of Electric Power
Technologies), in which 8 more universities from all parts of the world
participate, including the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Great Britain.
