Currently 199 students from Kazakhstan are studying at MPEI. The University gives internships to Master students from Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications, Sultanmahmut Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University, South Kazakhstan State University named after Mukhtar Auezov, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Lev Gumilyov Eurasian National University. 

MPEI effectively collaborates with the USCO Universities of Kazakhstan, coordinates the activity in the field of Power Engineering, and works in the USCO Economics field. 

MPEI has also been the basic organization of CIS for training, retraining and development of staff in the domain of electric power, issued by the Head Council of Government of the CIS Member States in Dushanbe on 30 October, 2015. 

The Double Degree program with Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications has been realized since 2008. 

The Synergy project on the basis of MPEI-FESTO Center of training is successfully developing. The project unites educational resources of five leading Technical Universities of two countries, including Karaganda State Technical University to prepare world class specialists-developers in industrial automatics. 

Since 2013 MPEI has conducted multiple events in the framework of International project “It’s time to study in Russia!” within the support of National University of Science and Technology MISIS and under the aegis of Rossotrudnichestvo. MPEI actively collaborates with the leading universities and scientific organizations of Kazakhstan. At present, 12 Universities of Kazakhstan have signed official agreements of collaboration with MPEI.
