MPEI delegation visited Mongolia

From May 13 to 16, MPEI delegation visited Mongolia.

At the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), the delegation met with its President, Prof. T. Namnam. They discussed expanding cooperation within the framework of the Russian-Mongolian Consortium of Technical Universities and the MPEI Targeted Training Center hosted by MUST’s Power Engineering Institute, as well as the joint development of textbooks and teaching materials. At the Power Engineering Institute, discussions with Professor B. Bat-Erden focused on organizing a joint scientific roundtable on the development of the electric power industry, planned for October-November 2026. Both sides also addressed teaching of the “Physics” course, including improvements to the curriculum in Russian and Mongolian.

A ceremony was held to confer the title “Honorary Professor” at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology on MPEI Vice-Rector on International Relations, Alexander Tarasov, in recognition of his significant contributions to Russian-Mongolian cooperation in education, science and engineering training.

The delegation met with MPEI alumni. The Chair of the MPEI Alumni Association, Davaanyam, confirmed readiness to continue work on creating an electronic alumni gallery and publishing a commemorative book dedicated to MPEI graduates from Mongolia. The book is scheduled for release in 2029 to mark 70 years of training Mongolian specialists at MPEI.

The delegation visited the Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development, formerly headed by Mongolia’s First President and honorary doctorate recipient of MPEI, Punsalmaagiin Ochirbat. During the meeting with the Center’s Director, B. Chinzorig, and the President of the Ochirbat Foundation, O. Ochirmaa, the parties discussed opportunities for closer cooperation between MPEI and the Foundation.
