MPEI Rector participates in the 3rd Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese universities in Hanoi25.05.2026On May 22, 2026, MPEI delegation led by Nikolay Rogalev, its Rector, is taking part in the 3rd Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese universities in Hanoi. hoThe University of Transport and Communications in Hanoi hosted the event. The delegation also includes Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations and Anastasia Mashkova, Director on Integration Policy Development. The forum brought together representatives of profile ministries, leading universities, research institutions and government bodies from Russia and Vietnam. The opening ceremony was attended by Pham Gia Tuc, Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Hoang Minh Son, Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as heads of leading universities and academic organizations from both countries. Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Viktor Sadovnichy, President of the Russian Rectors Union, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University delivered video addresses. During the panel session “Vietnam–Russia Cooperation in Education and Research in Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology”, MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev spoke on the development of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities and perspective areas of cooperation in engineering education, power engineering and high technologies. In his remarks, Nikolay Rogalev noted that MPEI’s cooperation with Vietnam spans more than 70 years. Over this period, the university has trained hundreds of power engineers and researchers for Vietnam. Lots of them are holding senior positions in energy companies, research institutions and government bodies. Particular attention in the presentation was given to the development of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities as a platform for long-term academic and research collaboration. MPEI Rector emphasized that the initiative has received government-level support and has been reflected in joint Russian and Vietnamese documents. Both sides focused on training specialists for the energy and nuclear sectors. In particular, proposals were presented to establish a joint Nuclear Power Plants Department with the participation of MPEI, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), VINATOM, as well as industry partners. The project is expected to include joint academic programs, faculty training, development of laboratory facilities and practice-oriented education. The presentation also introduced an initiative to expand Russian-language training for Vietnamese students in power engineering and nuclear education. The project is aimed at the development of specialized programs in technical Russian and power engineering terminology in cooperation with the Pushkin Institute. On the sidelines of the forum, an agreement was signed on the accession of D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia to the Russian–Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities. The document was signed on behalf of the university by Dmitry Kadymov, Vice-Rector on International Relations. The agreement aims to expand inter-university cooperation and advance joint educational and research initiatives within the framework of Russia-Vietnam collaboration. The MPEI delegation also held a meeting with the leadership of Thuyloi University. The meeting was attended by Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet, University President, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty and Director of the Civil Engineering Institute, as well as Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation Le Quang Tuan. The parties discussed further development of cooperation in education and research, as well as the signing of a new cooperation agreement between the universities. Particular attention was given to academic mobility, joint research and expanding partnerships in engineering fields. MPEI representatives also took part in the exhibition of Russian universities dedicated to advancing academic and scientific-technological cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.
