MPEI expands cooperation with China

On May 22, 2026, MPEI welcomed a delegation from Chengdu University of Technology (China), represented by Prof. Ge Liangquan and Prof. Li Fei.

The MPEI side was represented by Sergey Shirinsky, Head of External Relations Department; Alexander Dedov, Head of the General Physics and Nuclear Fusion Department (Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering), as well as representatives of the Directorate on International Relations.

During the visit, MPEI representatives introduced guests to the research and educational infrastructure of the Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering. They toured the Nuclear Power Plants Department, the Engineering Thermophysics named after Vladimir Kirillin Department and the General Physics and Nuclear Fusion Department. The delegation also visited the GOELRO Museum, the modern “MPEI-Hainan” space dedicated to Russia-China cooperation and stands of MPEI’s honorary doctors and professors.

The meeting focused on prospects for international cooperation in power engineering, nuclear technologies education, including opportunities for joint research, student and faculty exchanges, as well as participation in international academic initiatives.

The visit concluded with a summary of discussions and an agreement on next steps to further develop the partnership between MPEI and Chengdu University of Technology.

Chengdu University of Technology is a public research university in China, founded in 1956 and located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
