Session of International Committee of ''Global Energy'' Prize Awarding

On the 28th of May Rector of MPEI Nikolay Rogalev participated to the session of International Committee of "Global Energy" Prize.

During the session the laureates of 2019 Award have been selected: professor Frede Blaabjerg (Denmark) awarded for the development of intellectual control system for the Renewable Energy and Khalil Amine(USA) for the impact on effective energy storage technology.

The "Global Energy" prize is an international award for outstanding research work and science-and-technology achievements in the domain of power engineering. Since 2003 there were 37 scientists-laureates of the award from 12 countries – Australia, UK, Germany, Iceland, Canada, Russia, USA, Ukraine, France, Sweden, Switzerland and Japan. The award is in top 100 of the most prestigious and esteemed prizes in the field of power engineering. In the ICDA rating (The International Congress of Distinguished Awards) "Global Energy" resides in the "Mega Prizes" category for the goals that are laudable, practice exemplary and cash prize distinguished. The sponsors of the award are PJSC Gazprom, PJSC Surgutneftegaz and PJSC FGC UES.

The committee includes 20 experts from 14 countries of the world under the leadership of Rae Kwon Chung, Advisor to the Chairman of the HELP Group under the UN Secretary General, a member of the Intergovernmental Expert Group on Climate Change, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In 2019, 39 scientists from 12 countries took part in the competition.

Laureates and members of the International committee on the "'Global Energy" awarding annually take part in the scientific events of MPEI such as lectures reading. Several laureates have become Honorable Doctors of MPEI, among them are Klaus Riedle, Rodney John Allam, Alexander Leontyev, Alexsander Sheindlin, Dudley Brian Spalding.
