Samsung IT Academy starts work at MPEI

Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the Samsung IT Academy project at MPEI in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Studying in the framework of IT Academy Samsung” is carried out on the base of the Fundamentals of Radio Engineering Department of the Radio Engineering and Electronics Institute named after Vladimir Kotelnikov. The 3rd and 4th years students of Bachelor course in the fields of Radio Engineering and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies gain the opportunity to study on the Internet of Things track.

“In 2020, at the initiative of Fundamentals of Radio Engineering Department of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics named after Vladimir Kotelnikov, the first enrollment for the Master program "Cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things" took place at MPEI. “I am very pleased with the active development of the new program, which will undoubtedly be strengthened through partnership with Samsung. I believe that our joint efforts allow us to comprehensively solve the problem of training qualified personnel.” admitted Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of MPEI.

Having opened the Samsung IT Academy we help future IT specialists to get profound knowledge and demanded practical skills in the field of the Internet of Things on the base of this Competence center at MPEI”, - commented Sergey Pevnev, Head of the Department of corporate projects of the Samsung Electronic Headquarters in CIS.

The Agreement of cooperation between MPEI and Samsung Electronics was signed on the 28th of July, 2021 by Vladimir Zamolodchikov, First vice-rector of MPEI and Sergey Pevnev, Director of Public Affairs and Corporate Citizenship of Samsung Electronics CIS RHQ.

Training within the framework of cooperation between MPEI and Samsung IT Academy starts in October 2021. Cooperation between MPEI and Samsung broadens the range of industrial partners interested in the development of the Internet of Things in Russia. The Samsung IT Academy work at MPEI is supervised by specialists from the Fundamentals of Radio Engineering Department of IRE.

"Samsung IT Academy" is a long-term free social educational program of Samsung Electronics. The project was launched in 2017. The annual training tracks of the program, created by specialists from the Moscow Research Center Samsung, are designed for the development of demanded practical skills in the course of project activities. Students of partner universities of the project are trained on the tracks "Internet of Things", "Mobile Development" and "Artificial Intelligence". At the end of the one-year course, Samsung IT Academy graduates develop individual projects and, having successfully completed the program, receive a certificate from Samsung.

At the end of October 2021, the IV annual cross-University final of the "Samsung IT Academy" graduation project competition is taking place, where the best student projects that have passed the qualifying round of the competition will be presented. The jury for the final will include experts from Samsung and other leading companies of the IT industry.

Students of 22 universities in the cities of Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Knyaginino, Komsomolsk-na-Amure, Kursk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Rostov-na-Donu, St. Petersburg, Sterlitamak, Tomsk, Ufa, Chelyabinsk were awarded certificates of graduation on educational programs "Samsung IT Academy" for the past academic year. As well, the agreements on the launch of cooperation from the 2021/22 academic year were signed with new partners: Izhevsk State Technical University named after Mikhail Kalashnikov and the Bashkir State University.

In September 2020, the educational program "Samsung IT Academy" became the winner of  the "Best Social Projects of Russia" award.
