MPEI and the Rosatom Technical Academy develop cooperation

On March 24, 2022, MPEI representatives visited the Rosatom Technical Academy. During the meeting, the parties agreed on joint educational activities in the field of renewable energy sources, information technology and cybersecurity , training of NPP maintenance personnel. The possibilities of implementing joint international educational programs, introducing an applied bachelor 's degree , developing scientific and technical competencies were considered.

As part of the tour, the guests got acquainted with the modern teaching aids of the Technical Academy: the analytical simulator for a VVER-1200 power unit and the visual prototyping complex for 3D demonstration of NPP buildings, a unique training ground and laboratories of technical means of physical protection, visited a testing laboratory full of modern equipment and measuring instruments.

"For successful interaction within the framework of the signed agreement, it was important that specialists in various fields get acquainted with each other's capabilities and outline a road map that we are going to sign in the next 2-3 weeks. The document will define our concrete steps in a number of areas, in particular, within the framework of joint programs for professional training and retraining of personnel. During the meeting, mutual understanding was reached between the executors of these programs. This allows us to be sure that cooperation will be constructive ," said Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations at MPEI.

According to Yury Seleznev , rector of the Rosatom Technical Academy , the strategic directions of cooperation between organizations are based primarily on the industry's needs for specific qualified personnel and Rosatom's focus on international markets. Today, a request is being formed for the training of specialists in the field of two-component nuclear power, research reactors, floating and land-based low-power nuclear power plants. The implementation of joint international master's programs will contribute to increasing the professionalism among employees in the field of global nuclear technologies. An important direction is import substitution not only computer equipment, but also all equipment that is supplied to thermal and nuclear power plants.

The educational union created today between MPEI and the Rosatom Technical Academy contributes to the development of not only the organizations themselves, but the industry as a whole," Yuri Seleznev summed up the meeting.
