MPEI continues to strengthen cooperation with the Republic of Myanmar

May 6, 2022, Mo Zhuo, Military, Naval and Air Attache at the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar visited MPEI.

From the Myanmar side, Khin Pa Pa Win, the wife of the Military Attache and Mun Tang Um, translator were also present.

MPEI was represented by Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of the university, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Sergey Shirinsky, Head of the External Relations Department, Natalia Savchenkova, Head of Department of Ph.D.-students and Trainees, Tatyana Shestopalova, Director of the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources, Alexander Volkov, Head of the Department of Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Machines, Sultan Makoev, 1st category engineer of the Dean's Office for work with foreign students, Mie Min Tant, doctoral student of the Department of Electrotechnical Complexes of Autonomous Objects and Electric Transport and Marina Osipova, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations.

As part of the meeting, the guests were given a tour around the laboratories and classrooms of the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources (IHRES). Employees of IHRES demonstrated stands for studying solar and wind energy and spoke about operation principles of a wind power plant.

A presentation on MPEI history and life was shown, after which a cooperation discussion in the field of training specialists for the energy sector of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar took place.


At the end of the visit, the Military Attache met with students from Myanmar. Students were able to share their success in learning at MPEI.


Both sides expressed hope for strengthening cooperation in highly qualified personnel training for the energy sector of the Republic of Myanmar.
