Meeting with MPEI foreign students

17 October, 2022, MPEI International Administration carried out a meeting with 1st year foreign students.

The meeting gathered more than 50 students - members of MPEI International Council of and representatives of 39 countries.

 The event was organized in the framework of solving several tasks:

• talk about the conditions for implementing the educational process in the autumn semester of the 2022-2023 academic year;

• explain the provisions of the Internal Regulations and the need to comply with them;

• clarified the provisions and norms of the legislation of the Russian Federation in terms of migration registration and medical support for foreign citizens temporarily staying on the Russian Federation territory;

• inform of the medical policy of the COVID-19 situation;

• prevent the spread of the ideology of extremism and terrorism, the incitement of ethnic hatred among the youth;

• avoid dealing with forbidden psychoactive and narcotic substances;

• From the part of the administration and services of the University, the following persons took their word:  Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations, Alexander Shepilov, Head of the department of Students’ Campus (student campus "Lefortovo"), Shamil Jamalov, Head of the Security Regime Department, Maxim Plotnikov and Natalia Kruglova, employees of the Foreign Office, Olesya Aparina Head of Department of Visas and Registration and members of MPEI International Intercouncil .

During the meeting, Alexander Ankin, Dean of Foreign Students emphasized the importance of complying with the demands of the general rules, medical support and COVID-19 policy requirements, as well as the main provisions of the law of the Russian Federation "On Education", local regulations related to the discipline and the organization of the educational process.

Alexander Shepilov, Head of the department of Students’ Campus, explained the main provisions of the campus accommodation rules and fire safety rules.

Olesya Aparina Head of Department of Visas and Registration stated the importance of the notions of basic laws of Russia that regulate the migratory issues of the country and movement within the territory of the Russian Federation that were covered in detail.

In addition, at the meeting, representatives of MPEI International Administration highlighted the following issues:

• aspects of preventing the spread of the ideology of extremism and terrorism, inciting ethnic hatred among the youth,

• brought measures to prevent illicit trafficking in psychoactive substances and narcotic drugs;

• clarified the provisions of the main local regulations of the university that regulate the educational process in the autumn semester of the 2022-2023 academic year and the academic discipline.

The meeting covered the situation on attempts to spread the ideology of extremism and terrorism in the world.

As a preventive measure aimed at preventing the spread of narcotic drugs, students were informed about the ways of involving young people in the illegal circulation of psychoactive substances and narcotic drugs and criminal liability for committing unlawful acts.

It is noted that MPEI students are a single multinational community united by loyalty to each other and mutual assistance in the field of obtaining a quality education, which is alien to the ideas of inciting social, racial, national and religious hatred.
