Autumn meeting of International Thematic Group on Energy of BRICS Network University

November 2, 2022, an online meeting of the International Thematic Group on Energy of the BRICS Network University (BRICS NU) was held. It’s carried out several times a year for the coordinators of partner universities of the BRICS Network University that are of energy group members.

At the meeting, a presentation of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), a new university for the BRICS NU, located in Chennai, India, was presented, having joined the BRICS NU just this year. It was founded in 1959, presently the university has over 10,000 Bachelor, Master and Doctoral students. In the engineering field, it offers training courses such as Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Metals and Materials Engineering, Ocean Engineering. The meeting participants were obviously interested in the experience of IIT Madras in organizing programs for the joint supervision of graduate students by scientists from partner universities. It was decided to bring into the discussion on this work during next meeting.

MPEI presented the changes on the official website of the International Thematic Group that allow to show the information about the scientific departments of the partner Universities in English to simplify the management of direct contacts with familiar scientific groups. The demanded prerequisite form has been sent to all the coordinators.

IIT Bombay’s proposal for conducting an online scientific conference for graduate students within the framework of the thematic group on energy received a counter proposal from our University to send graduate students to the International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students and Postgraduates “Radioelectronics, Electrical Engineering and Energy”, held in March, or rather to its English-language part as a section of IEEE 5th REEPE 2023.
