MPEI will open a Center for Targeted Training on the basis of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology24.10.2023At the 25th meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Mongolian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Ulaanbaatar there was signed an agreement on the creation of the Targeted Training Center. It will be established on the basis of the Power Engineering Institute of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) for large-scale training of personnel for the Mongolia’s energy industry. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, took part in the work of the Commission. In his report, Konstantin Mogilevsky touched upon the issues of cooperation in the fields of general education, higher education and science. He said: "We are aware of Mongolia's interest in training specialists, primarily in engineering and technical specialties. In particular, for the needs of subsoil use, transportation and energy". On the eve of signing the agreement on the establishment of the MPEI Center for Targeted Training on the MUST basis, the Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science visited the laboratories of relay protection and automation and mechatronics of the MUST Power Engineering Institute. The laboratories allow training high-class specialists who will be able to work on the most modern equipment. Both sides agreed on preparation a list of necessary specialists by areas and levels of training in the perspective up to 2030 by the Center together with the Ministry of Energy of Mongolia and companies implementing projects in the energy sector. The Center plans to send Mongolian professors and employees of the energy industry to MPEI to get acquainted with new teaching methods and develop joint training methods for future specialists. The result of the internships will be: joint curricula; joint methodological manuals in Russian and Mongolian languages with sections including country specifics, creation of joint educational programs, development of necessary training programs for current employees, translation of modern MPEI textbooks into Mongolian language for the educational process. It should be noted that today the Russian Ministry of Education and Science is training Mongolian personnel in a wide range of fields. In 2022/23 more than two thousand Mongolian citizens studied in Russia, of them almost 1.5 thousand - within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the quota was increased by 95 places over the two academic years and now stands at 620 quota places.
