MPEI took part in the XIII Forum of higher educational institutions of the Union State of engineering and technological universities of the Union State

From September 23 to 27, 2024 in Nizhny Novgorod there took place the XIII Forum of universities of engineering and technological profile of the Union State.

Previously, the Belarusian National Technical University was the venue for the Forum. This year this honor was given to Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev (NNSTU n.a. R.E. Alekseev). The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Standing Committee of the Union State.

The Forum united over 600 teachers and students from more than one hundred Belarusian and Russian technical universities. MPEI was represented at the Forum by Marina Osipova and Ekaterina Sysoeva of the International Relations Directorate.

Forum participants exchanged experience between universities on the development of engineering education in the conditions of economic transformation, discussed the formation and strengthening of the Union State image, science popularization and activation of creative activity among the Union State's youth, conditions for the development of youth innovative entrepreneurship the Union State.

Forum held 5 sections:

1. Priority directions of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activity of the Union State universities

2. Development of engineering education in the Union State

3. Youth innovative entrepreneurship

4. Career of an engineer

5. Vectors of Youth Policy

During the work of five sections participants discussed various aspects of the “Advanced Engineering Schools” project and the “Priority 2030” program implementation. They offered options to solve problems in ecology, occupational health and safety of industrial production of the real economy sector, to improve the life quality of population and youth policy. Within the section “The Best Youth Startup of the Union State” a contest of youth innovation projects was held. MPEI participants shared their experience in the field of international cooperation forms of technical universities at Section 2.

At the meeting of the organizing committee that concluded the Forum program, its participants, representatives of Russian and Belarusian universities, discussed the prospects of cooperation in the field of technological development and formation of technological and scientific sovereignty of the Union State. They agreed to create an inter-university platform for integration cooperation in the development of education, science and technology. The work on it will be carried out within the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Union State for the period up to 2035.
