MPEI took part in the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo22.12.2025On December 19, 2025, in Cairo, Anastasia Mashkova, Director on Integration Policy Development at MPEI took part in the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum. She participated as a member of a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the country’s leading technical universities, including the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI". The events were attended by Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and focused on the development of academic and scientific-technological cooperation between Russia and the countries of Africa and the Middle East. Meetings were held with the leadership of the relevant ministries of the Republic of Mali, the Republic of Niger, and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Key topics of discussion included mutual recognition of education and qualifications, academic mobility, and the training of engineering and technical specialists under Russian educational programs. Participants also discussed the development of a branch campus network of Russian technical universities in Egypt. As a follow-up to the agreements formalized in interdepartmental documents signed on December 7 in Cairo within the framework of the Russian-Arab Academic Dialogue, a meeting of the relevant Working Group was held with the participation of representatives of leading technical universities. During the discussions, participants considered prospects for the implementation of educational programs in the fields of power engineering, high technology, and engineering sciences. The participation of MPEI in the Forum’s events reflects the strategic interest of international partners in expanding MPEI’s presence in the African and Middle Eastern regions, as well as in developing applied forms of cooperation in the field of engineering education and scientific research. Reference MPEI has been consistently developing cooperation with Egypt in education and science fields. The University implements joint educational and research projects with leading Egyptian universities, takes part in academic mobility programs. Moreover, MPEI contributes to the training of engineering specialists in the fields of power engineering, electrical and thermal power engineering, including within the framework of the Russian-African Network University. Historically, MPEI’s contribution has been associated with the training of specialists for Egypt’s energy infrastructure and the establishment of sustainable academic partnerships aimed at long-term development.
