MPEI at the 18th meeting of the Russian-Mongolian Subcommission on cooperation in education, science and technology

On December 15, 2025, there was the 18th meeting of the Subcommission on Educational, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation of the Russian-Mongolian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. The meeting took place in a hybrid format: the in-person session was hosted at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, while remote participation was provided via videoconference.

The meeting opened with welcome remarks by Khandjav Batjargal, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Mongolia. On the Russian side, Olga Molovtseva, Acting Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation delivered the welcoming address.

The meeting agenda included a review of the results of Russian-Mongolian cooperation in 2025, issues of collaboration in general and higher education, the training and retraining of teaching personnel, as well as the development of scientific research and academic exchanges. Participants discussed the Mongolian side’s needs for training highly qualified specialists, prospects for expanding inter-university cooperation and priority areas for joint research projects.

In addition, participants discussed the issues of scientific cooperation, including interaction with the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the implementation of joint research projects. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the partnership and in developing educational programs, academic mobility and scientific and technological cooperation.

Anastasia Mashkova, Director on the Development of Integration Policy at MPEI, took part in the meeting. She presented MPEI’s experience in the training of engineering specialists, the development of educational and research cooperation formats, and the participation of Russian technical universities in multilateral mechanisms of Russian-Mongolian cooperation.

The Subcommission meeting was held ahead of the upcoming session of the Russian–Mongolian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, underscoring the coordinating role of the education and science agenda in the development of bilateral partnership.
