MPEI held 5th Meeting of the “Leaders in International Affairs Club”

On March 4, 2026, MPEI hosted the 5th meeting of the “Leaders in International Affairs Club” in a hybrid format, bringing together more than 15 in-person participants and over 30 online participants – heads of international offices from Russian universities.

The meeting was organized by the Eastern European Universities Association (EEUA) with MPEI support.

The central theme of the meeting was “China. Finance”. Participants discussed prospects for cooperation with Chinese universities, financial and legal aspects of working with foreign partners, practices for receiving payments from abroad, as well as the use of alternative settlement instruments.

Vice-rectors on international relations and heads of international departments from club’s member universities took part in the meeting. Bogdan Voronovsky, Director General of the Association of Eastern European Universities delivered a welcoming address.

Speakers at the meeting included Alexander Tarasov, MPEI Vice-Rector on International Relations, Irina Akhmetova, Vice-Rector on Development and Innovation of Kazan State Power Engineering University, Sergey Tits, Head of the International Office of Samara University named after Korolev, as well as Elena Gulicheva, MPEI Director on International Cooperation.

Participants showed strong interest of universities in expanding academic and research cooperation with China, as well as their readiness to develop joint mechanisms for effective and sustainable collaboration.
