MPEI International Division informs that since 23.10.14 till 03.11.2014 in China there was organized a number of events within the new project – information round of the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!" 2014/2015 academic year. The purpose of the Academic Competition is recruiting of the most talented graduates from national schools and Universities for training in the technical area of preparation in Russian Universities.

Traditionally the Academic Competition includes two rounds: information and selection. The information round that is organized, as a rule, in the autumn is focused on drawing attention of foreign youth to training at the presented Universities of the Russian Federation and to informing potential participants and their parents on opportunity and conditions of participation in the selection round of the Academic Competition. The selection round that is organized, as a rule, in spring is directed on selection of the most talented graduates from foreign schools. In 2013/2014 academic year the Academic Competition successfully took place in 11 countries: Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Mongolia, Moldova, China, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Namibia, Abkhazia.

Since 27.10.2014 till 03.11.2014 a delegation of representatives from 5 Russian Universities held events of information round of the Academic Competition in the capital of the People's Republic of China – Beijing, in administrative centers and the largest cities of the Province of Shanxi and the cities of the Province of Henan. The total of the school students and their parents who took part in information round of the Academic Competition made 2 320 people https://plus.google.com/photos/107271733554984668762/albums/6081182941802589473.

Within the events of the Academic Competition there were organized meetings with pupils of graduation classes of schools, their parents and representatives of administration of schools where there were developed presentations about the project "It is time to study in Russia!", about system of the Russian higher education and conditions of training in Russian Universities, presentation about MPEI, the realized educational programs, and also conditions of stay, social and cultural life of students.

There was summing up survey within information round of Academic Competition for the Chinese school students about their interest in studying of the Russian language and recognition of the Russian Universities. Results of answers analysis from 649 school students who took part in the poll show that 82,5% of respondents would like to learn the Russian language prior to study in Russia.

By results of summing up concerning events of Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!" it is possible to state the next moments:

• need of providing much information about the higher education in the Russian Federation;
• readiness to receive creative collectives from Russia in close cooperation with RQC in Beijing and the Russian Universities to promote Russian culture and education in provinces;
• need to teach the Russian language as foreign for school and university students;
• readiness to open on its own base classes on studying of the Russian language;
• interest in the organization of mutual summer language schools and study tours;
• readiness to expand geography of events of the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!".
