MPEI delegation visited Germany

MPEI International Administration informs that in the period from the 24th of May to the 27th of May, 2017 MPEI delegation headed by MPEI Rector Rogalev Nikolay visited Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Konstanz) and Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) to discuss the issues of implementation of joint educational programs and programs of scientific cooperation.

MPEI delegation included:

• MPEI Rector Rogalev Nikolay;
• Vice Rector on international relations Zamolodchikov Vladimir;
• Head of Department of international cooperation Tarasov Alexander.

The delegation work started on the day of arrival to Konstanz – on the 24th of May. There a meeting with President of Hochschule Konstanz prof. Carsten Manz was held. During the meeting there were discussed the results of cooperation between our universities for 25 yearsThe participants noted that for all these years more than 70 people both from the Russian and German parts participated in the joint programs. MPEI Rector awarded President of Hochschule Konstanz with MPEI Honorary gold sign and MPEI Certificate of Merit for a big personal contribution to development of cooperation between our universities. In frames of the meeting the discussion of prospects concerning interaction between MPEI and Hochschule Konstanz was arranged. The participants noted a big personal contribution of prof. Kiryukhin from Hochschule Konstanz who for many years has been promoting successful development of cooperation. MPEI Rector handed to prof. Kiryukhin a Badge of honor of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute". Moreover the parties signed the updated contract on cooperation between our universities (previously it was signed in 1991). Then MPEI delegation visited laboratories and departments of the University. In the same evening the meeting with the program alumni was organized.

On the 25th of May the participants summarized the results of the visit and there planned their steps concerning the cooperation enhancing. Later in the day the delegation moved to Erlangen.

In Erlangen the delegation was met by MPEI Honorary Doctor, Professor Klaus Riedle.

On the 26th of May MPEI delegation was entertained by President of Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, prof. Joachim Hornegger. There was arranged the exchange of opinions concerning development of cooperation between our universities in various areas. There was noted a significant contribution of prof. Klaus Riedle to development of bilateral cooperation. Following the results of the meeting there was signed the updated contract on cooperation between MPEI and Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Later in the day the host country organized the visits of MPEI delegation to Institute of Fluid Mechanics – Director, prof. Antonio Delgado and Thermodynamic Institute – Director, prof. Stefan Will. There MPEI delegation visited departments and laboratories and saw the presentations of institutes. Following as the result of the visit the parties noted huge opportunities for further development of interaction between our universities.

On the 27th of May, the working meeting with the CEO Power and Gas Division, Siemens AG Willi Meixner took place. Following the results of the meeting there were planned potential areas of interaction between Siemens and MPEI.

All in all the visit took place successfully that allows to count on further enhancing cooperation between MPEI and German Universities and the organizations in various areas.​​​
