Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology delegation visited MPEI

On October 9, 2024, representatives of the Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology (China), headed by its President Han Yongquan, visited MPEI.

The delegation included Sun Yanbai, director of the Office of international Cooperation and Exchange, Ma Yonghong, dean of the School of Science, and Yin Hongxue, an interpreter and a teacher at the Foreign Languages School.

MPEI was represented by Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations, Elena Gulicheva Director on International Relations.

The program of the visit included a presentation about MPEI, demonstration of the GOELRO museum, the main academic building, and the stand of honorary doctors and professors. Also, guests were given a tour around Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources Institute (IHRE).

Guests also visited the Electrical Power Engineering Institute (IEPE), including the Center of the National Technological Initiative “Technologies of Electric Power Transportation and Distributed Intelligent Energy Systems” (NTI).

During the discussion of cooperation issues, the Chinese side proposed joint projects in such fields as power engineering and electrical engineering, hydraulics and aerodynamics, as well as mechanical engineering. Both sides outlined steps for the realization of these initiatives, including student exchange, development of joint scientific projects and participation in international conferences.

Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, mentioned that the University successfully cooperates with Chinese universities within the University Alliance of the Silk Road initiative. He noted that this cooperation opens new horizons for scientific and educational interaction, allowing integrating advanced technologies and sharing experience in such key fields as power engineering, power machinery and sustainable development.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed to coordinate further actions and develop specific plans for realization of joint projects.
