MPEI strengthens cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan

On March 10, 2026, MPEI welcomed the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation, Rahman Sahib oglu Mustafayev.

During the visit, there was a working meeting with the university's administration: Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations and Sultan Makoev, Director on International Education.

The parties discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the higher education and science fields. They paid particular attention to expanding interaction with partner universities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the prospects for implementing joint research projects. Separate topics of discussion included the work of targeted training centers and the extracurricular life of MPEI students.

As part of the visit, a tour of the laboratories of the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy and the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering was also organized for Mr. Mustafayev. During the tour, MPEI side showed its scientific and educational capabilities and the key areas of ongoing research.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen academic and scientific ties and agreed to continue their interaction, including the preparation and exchange of proposals for the development of cooperation.
