MPEI congratulates Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant with the 40th anniversary

MPEI International Division reports that in September, 2014 MPEI delegation visited Bulgaria for the purpose of participation in anniversary events within the 40 anniversary of start-up of the first power unit of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. MPEI prepared more than 40 high skilled specialists from Bulgaria for Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, constructed in 1970-1974 with assistance of the USSR. They worked and continue working for Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant since 1973 at different positions up to directors of station. MPEI delegation consisting of professor of Department of Electrical Complexes of the Autonomous Objects and Department of Electric Transport Professor Mikhail A. Sleptsov and professor of Department of Nuclear Power Plants Valery P. Gorbatykh was sent to Bulgaria for participation in festive events.

In the program of anniversary events there were anniversary conference and ceremonial meeting "40 years of start-up of the first power unit" which happened on July 24, 1974. In these events that took place in Cultural center of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, representatives of the Ministry of Power Engineering of Bulgaria, the former and present staff of power plant, representatives of construction and assembling enterprises, Russian delegations from the different organizations took part. Total number of participants is more than 1000 people. The Executive Director of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant Mr. Ivan Genov, the graduate of MPEI Department of Nuclear Power Plants (1980), carried out anniversary events.

MPEI delegation noted the significant contribution of our university to creation of high skilled personnel structure of the NPP, emphasizing indissoluble communication of MPEI professor staff with the graduates and actual participation in joint scientific projects.
