The decree on awarding MPEI for the great contribution to the development and training of personnel in the power engineering sector of Mongolia was signed by the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on June 6, 2024. The Order of the Red Banner of Labor of the Mongolian People's Republic (hereinafter - MPR) is a state award given to certain industrial and administrative organizations and institutions that successfully implement the state plan and achieve success in the organization of labor, as well as strengthen the economic power of the MNR. MPEI has made a significant contribution to the development of Russian-Mongolian academic and scientific cooperation and personnel training for the Mongolian power engineering sector. MPEI was one of the first universities that started training personnel for foreign countries in 1946. The first Mongolian alumnus graduated from MPEI in 1959. “Our university actively interacts with Mongolian partners. We support cooperation in scientific research, training of personnel for the country's power engineering sector, as well as in the development of cultural exchange. We are proud that MPEI has been honored with such a high award. We are grateful to our Mongolian colleagues for their support and trust”, - Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, said. Since 2016 MPEI Rector is an honorary professor of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, as well as co-chairman of the Board of the Russian-Mongolian Consortium of Technical Universities from the Russian side. With the active support of Nikolay Rogalev, in 2018, the Russian-Mongolian Center of Digital Technologies in Power Engineering was opened at MPEI. Presently, the best Mongolian students are studying at MPEI, and joint work is underway to build up the university's alumni base. Together with the Ministry of Energy of Mongolia and companies implementing projects in the power engineering sector, lists of necessary specialists by areas and qualification levels are being formed, who will be trained at MPEI every year until 2030. Reference: In 2019, on the basis of the Mongolian-Russian joint school in Ulaanbaatar, there was established a resource center for Russian education within the federal project “Export of Education” of MPEI. On October 23, 2023 in Ulan Bator, at the 25th meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Mongolian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Ulaanbaatar there was signed an agreement ween MPEI and the Mongolian State University of Science and Technology (MUST) on the creation of the Targeted Training Center on the site of the Power Engineering Institute of the MUST. Together with the Mongolian power engineering company Dayan Deerkh Energy, the university plans to train personnel, including for the 600 MW Tsagaan Tolgoi thermal power plant under construction.
