MPEI and Shanghai University of Electric Power develop strategic partnership

On April 7, 2025, MPEI received a delegation from Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) headed by Zhang Bo, Vice President of the university.

The delegation also included Zeng Fenyu, Dean of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Pan Weiguo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Power Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Cui Haoyang, Dean of the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, and Pan Hua, Associate Professor and Dean of the College of Economics and Management.

The visit of SUEP delegation to MPEI was a return visit following the trip of Vasilina Masyagina, Assistant to MPEI Vice-Rector, and Irina Sazonova, Leading Specialist of the International Relations Department, to SUEP on March 27, 2025.

During the meeting, the delegation representatives toured the laboratories of the Department of Hydropower Engineering and Renewable Energy ​(HERE), Hydromechanics and Hydraulic Machines (HHM), as well as the Department of Energy Structures and Hydro-Technical Installations​ (ESHTI) of the Hydropower and Renewable Energy Institute (IHRE). In addition, the guests visited the Departments of High Voltage Engineering and Electrophysics​ (HVEE), Relay Protection and Automation of Energy Systems​ (PACS), and the Center of the National Technological Initiative “Technologies of Electric Power Transportation and Distributed Intelligent Energy Systems” (NTI) of the Electrical Power Engineering Institute (IEPE).

The visit is aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and expanding cooperation in key academic and scientific areas. The parties discussed the prospects of implementing joint scientific projects, organizing international conferences, academic exchange, as well as training of highly qualified personnel, including Ph.D. programs. In addition, the parties considered the possibility of organizing summer schools and short-term programs, as well as holding lectures by the lecturers of MPEI on SUEP basis.

Following the discussion of cooperation issues, a new MoU was signed, which will become the basis for further development of partnership in academic and scientific spheres.
