MPEI took part in session of National Rectorate of USCO

On the 6th of December, 2019, at RUDN there was a Forum of employees of International Services of Higher Education Institutes belonging to the network-type University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (USCO). In the Forum’s framework, the Session of National Rectorate of USCO was attended by the representatives of Basic Universities of Russia – USCO members, as well as the representatives of diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. From the MPEI side Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations, took part in the event.

During the session, the Institutes-participants of the USCO reported on the priority themes. Their officials shared the results of work and the view on problems that complicate the realization of the mutual education programs and discussed the solutions.

Partner Universities decided to pay special attention to promoting the interaction with foreign Universities-partners of the USCO, especially in the part of students’ selection for mutual educational programs realized by USCO members. These members thoroughly examined the issues of work upon the “Plan of the events of conducting the USCO by the Russian Federation in 2019/2020”. As well, they formulated the algorithm of actions in the part of cooperative preparation of USCO Rectors’ Forum, the Session of Coordination Council of USCO and the International Science Conference of USCO. Currently, MPEI is an international and national coordinator in the field of Power Engineering of USCO.

In 2018-2019, the mutual Bachelor program between MPEI and North China Electric Power University had been designed.

For participation in the program in China for the contest of 40 options, there were 150 applications, so obviously the level of interest in Russian education is very high. MPEI delegated 2 Russian language teachers to China. As well, the events of testing in Russian, attendance control and contest for the CSC scholarships were conducted. After the preparatory course in Russian, 29 students of NCEPU continued the education at MPEI from the autumn semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.
